Many, Many Thanks!

Fundraiser a Huge Success!
by Premilla Arasasingham

I want to thank you individually, repeatedly and sincerely – for your support, for the belief and commitment that you have shown and continue to show towards St. Aidan’s church. We had a very successful “Wine Tasting, Art and Music Festival”, with over 200 people attending and it was fun, fun, fun!

There are so many individuals to thank, but I have to especially thank six individuals who went over and beyond what was asked of them, they supported me and stood by me every step of the way. Lorraine for her unbelievable attention to detail and hard work, from designing invitations, to picking up tablecloths to making flower and fruit displays; Laura for the tremendous success of the silent auction, many, many long nights and hard work; Elizabeth for rounding up all the artist as well as musicians, I am amazed at her persistence and organization; Lon for designing the beautiful program; Barbara for getting articles in the local paper for publicity and Cindy for soliciting donations from local businesses and fixing the front patio.

It is said that you can find an image of god in the people around you, while working with these individuals who are constantly giving themselves and their time to help other people; I think I have an idea of what God is like.

I would like to thank my whole committee for a job well done.

The things we regret the most in life are those we did not do.
I’d like to end with a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson:

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.

Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in the old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal-temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Alfred Lord Tennyson
